Wear a breast cancer bracelet and increase awareness

You may have noticed a lot of people, both males and females wearing a pink bracelet especially during the month of October and wondered why. The answer is that these people have lost a relative or friend from breast cancer, or they may be suffering from the disease themselves. They are wearing a breast cancer bracelet to increase awareness among the public of the disease and how it can be prevented or cured.

There must be no crueler disease than breast cancer. Like all other forms of cancer it can strike at any time, and if undetected, will almost inevitably prove fatal. However those who are stricken with breast cancer are young women, sometimes with young children, who leave them behind to grow up alone.

Women who have gone through the menopause were always the principal sufferers of breast cancer, and it usually struck them at a stage in life when they were beginning the fruits of their life’s labors: retirement, watching a child walk down the aisle, or being a loving and doting grandmother.

It is not only the pain of loss that affects the loved one left behind, it is the feeling helplessness as the breast cancer sufferer begins a battle for survival, involving great pain and discomfort, the embarrassment of baldness caused by the cruel side effects of chemotherapy treatment. These are often the last, distressing memories of a loved one that you have witnessed been stuck down by this disease.

In recent years, an increased awareness of breast cancer has actually caused a decrease in fatalities in women who have been diagnosed with the disease. Women are now being encouraged through the media and their family doctor or health facility to check their breasts on a daily basis for any signs of lumps or ridges and, if the y find anything suspicious, to respond immediately.

Many females, especially those who fall into a high risk category, have begun to investigate the advantages of holistic medicine either to prevent the invasion of the disease into their body or cure it in the event that it strikes. Obviously there are no statistics available of how many females have prevented the disease, but information on the number of people who have recovered from breast cancer, either before and after surgery is encouraging.

Hopefully, in time, the number of people you will notice wearing a pink cancer bracelet will decrease and eventually disappear altogether due to the effects of holistic medicine.
